Most leagues and sporting events canceled to help eliminate the spread of the virus. NBA, NHL, and most English Premier soccer leagues have postponed all competition.
Other annual sporting events with sports betting implications like The Masters Tournament, Kentucky Derby, and NCAA Tournament, have been rescheduled or canceled.
The shutdown has bettors looking for alternatives to feed their betting urge. Luckily, we have compiled a list of leagues around the world whose competition is set to resume.
Russia Premier League
The Russian Premier League is Russia’s top soccer league. The majority of clubs are located in Eastern Russia, three teams located in the nation’s capital, Moscow.
Like most European soccer leagues, the Russian Premier League suspended all competition on March 17th. Two weeks of games were postponed and have not been rescheduled.
The good news is play will resume April 10th.
Zenit Saint Petersburg is the top club with 50 points, nine points ahead of Lokomotiv Moscow and FC Krasnodar. Five matchdays remaining, it will be a race for the top two spots and opportunity to represent the RPL in next year’s Champion League.
Zenit plays Krasnodar April 19th, which should have major implications on the standings. Betting Odds and money lines haven’t been released for the league but keep an out as we approach April 10th.
Turkish Super Cup
The Turkish Football Federation created the Turkish Super Cup in 1962. The tournament includes 156 teams, a round-robin group stage, and five knockout rounds, lasting from August until May.
The Turkish Football Federation was one of the last committees to suspend competitions, only after players complained. The Cup is currently in the semi-finals round, with four teams competing for a spot in the May 5th championship game.
Fenerbahce will take on Trabzonspor April 21st and Alanyaspor takes on Antalyaspor April 22nd in the second leg of the semifinals.
Trabzonspor leads Fenerbahce in the aggregate 2-1 and Alanyaspor has a 1-0 lead over Antalyaspor after the first leg of the semifinals which took place early March.
Betting odds and money lines have not been released yet.
The Hyundai A-League is one of the few sports leagues to continue competition without any delays or postponement.
The League is the highest level of professional soccer in Australia. Eleven teams, one based in New Zealand, compete for the FFA Domestic Cup after a 26-game regular season.
Betting lines are open for the league. The Hyundai A-League has a weekend full of games, with good betting odds. Western Sydney, currently 8th in the league, is on a two-game win streak and has victories over Sydney FC, the leagues top team.
They are +195 underdogs against Perth Glory, who are 1-2-2 in their last five matches.
Singapore Premier League
The Singapore Premier League, formerly known as the S.League, is the highest competitive league in Singapore. Nine clubs compete for the Singapore Cup/Community Shield.
The league started their season in February but had to postpone the first matches, which at that time did not reach the levels where it is now.
Since the early delay, the league has not had any interruptions in competition.
The league is in the early stages of it’s season, no team playing more than four games. The Tampines Rovers lead the league currently with nine points, but a lot of season is still left to play.
The B.League, which was started in 2015 by the Japan Basketball Association operates as Japan’s top basketball league.
The league merged with the NBA, controlled by the Japan Basketball Association, who is also a FIBA affiliate. The league features international players, some American players with NBA experience.
The league to suspend competition in late February. They attempted to resume play without fans mid-march, but the league decided to postpone games until April 4th after what they described as a “chaotic” weekend of games.
Because of the mismanagement, betting odds have yet to be released for the upcoming weekend of games.
